Bassetti 2   vs.    Am. Legion 1

A classic battle for our first game turned out to be a great defensive battle. The “Legion of Doom” and the “Snap Shots” looked like they were ready to go right from the drop of the ball. The “Human Touch” Justin Bishop said” cheese” after his first goal (8:00) in the first. The Doom struck right back 0:15 later a Tyler Rossi laser beam assisted Mikey Franklin. After those goals is when the “D” set in line change after line change couldn’t get it done from either team. Goalies Gavin “The Gate Keeper” and

Colin “The Great Wall” made save after save. It wasn’t until mid way though the second period when Adam Welsh assisted by Timmy Marker and Danny “Big Game Harvey”. (6:24) Coach Todd Tomlinson’s squad kept the pressure on but, Babb’s team held them off for the win. After a post game interview with Jimmy Ellerman He told us how the defense was able to keep them in the game and the offence from The Juice” was a tall task!

IKA    2     vs.      Platt’s  1

Low scoring and high action seemed to be the theme of the night. The” karate kids “jumped kicked right into the game with a goal from Will Smith assisted by Nick Loggi (7:45) into the first. Juliana Capasso and Lauren Partyka held the game close with tenacious defense until the 2nd period when Nick Loggi got one passed Mikey “prime time “ Pecora (8:21) “ the Smooth Operator” AC Capasso fought them off and Ed Henry with an assist from “super C “ Spiers lit the lamp early in the 3rd (9:05) but, that wasn’t enough. The defense lead by “Big Game Hartlage” was way too tough and IKA got the win. After the game Coach Mike Desrosiers talked about Rachael Hartlage “ She is a huge play maker for them and sometimes is unstoppable. But, the hockey that was played by those Dahl brothers  was quite impressive!

Just the same as every year the teams get better and the games get tighter. After the game Bassetti Photo was seen congratulating the goalie Jimmy Ellerman on a job well done. When I spoke to assistant coach Jeff Prichard he said” he was happy for the win and very impressed of the defense of IKA and Anthony Wall and Mason Barrella and it near impossible to score.”

Anthony Nagle and Jackie the “Joke Man” Monforto put up a wall of defense and shut down the 2nd period. The third period Platt’s wouldn’t be held off any longer off the face-off Big Dylan Dougherty lit the lamp for the first time this season. (Assisted by A.Capasso) The defense for Platt’s lead by Killer “B” Desrosiers and Super “C” Spiers shut down the scoring for the Legion. “AC” Capasso wasn’t done scoring he had two more in the 3rd for the hat trick.
