Somers Point Freshmen Roller Hockey Team Wins a Big One!!!

The Somers Point Freshmen All Star Roller Hockey Team played until 4am on a recent Sunday morning to bring home the gold in the "AA 18 & under division of Cougarmania 3" at Players Choice in Sewell, New Jersey It was a long night of block scheduling for parents and players who stayed till the very end to see the Lightning take a decisive win over the Revolution from Philadelphia.  After almost 8 hours of intense roller hockey games with brief breaks in between, the Lightning took home the gold!  It was a great night of sport court hockey with big plays by every one of the Freshmen All Stars.  The team included Pat Johns (Goaltender), Chris Anderson, Jonathan Adams, Zack Freeman, Danny McBride, Dustin Peterson, Wes Bryan, Bill Wilkins, Dan Johns, Jesse Walter, and AJ Migliaccio.  The highlight of the night was the shoot-out, won 2-1 by Pat Johns stopping 3 out of 4 shots and goals being scored by Zack Freeman and Chris Anderson, which launched the Lightning into the Championship round. Thanks to the players and especially the parents who stuck it out till the early morning hours!!
