Somers Point Street Hockey salutes Sergeant Daniel J. Welsh.  SGT Welsh is the father of Adam Welsh who plays on the VFW team in the Penguin Division.  SGT Welsh is currently in the U.S. Army with the 25^th Infantry (I-5) Division out of Fort Wainwright (Fairbanks), Alaska.  SGT Welsh surprised his son and family by arriving home on Christmas Eve for a 30 day leave.  SGT Welsh just returned from 16 months over in Iraq.  He spent 12 months in Mogul and 4 months in Baghdad as a medic helping save the lives of other soldiers serving over in Iraq.  SGT Welsh has been in the U.S. Army for 9 years and plans to continue and make a career by serving a full 20 years.  So next time you see SGT Welsh down at the courts make sure you thank him for serving and protecting our country.
