RULES
- Play
3-12 minute periods (stop clock) 90 seconds break between periods.
(Running clock after 3rd period when goal differential is 8)
One timeout per game/ one additional timeout in overtime.
SCORING- win = 2-pts, tie = 1 pts, 1-pt. will be awarded for each
period won ½ pt.

2. Forfeits
will be awarded for teams not starting within 10mins of game time. If the games
are running behind the next game will start within 5 mins. After the previous
game ends.
- No overtime in games. Overtime will
only be in Playoffs
- Penalties, 1 min. minor 3 min = major,
3- 1 min. penalties or 1 major penalty = game misconduct.
FIGHTING= GAME MISCONDUCT PLUS 1 GAME SUSPENSION, 2ND FIGHT 3 GAME SUSPENSION,
AND WILL BE REVIEW BY BOARD. 3RD FIGHT EXPULSION FROM LEAGUE. (FIGHTING WILL CARRY OVER FROM GAME TO
GAME AS PER NSHA RULES. COACHES RESPONSIBILITY TO INFORM NEXT GAMES DIRECTOR,
OR THE HEAD COACH WILL FACE SUSPENSION. There will be no FIGHTING tolerated on of off the courts. 3rd
man in automatic game misconduct plus 1 game suspension. Leaving the bench =
SAME PENALTIES AS FIGHTING. (The NSHA committee for further suspensions or
expulsions will review Players who get excessive penalties or fights).
- Players may be added to roster after 1st
game, AND PLAYERS MUS PLAY 50% OF THE GAMES TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR PLAY OFFS.
Players may not play fro two teams in the same division. (Roster players
from other divisions may play up 1 year in age difference).
6. Players
must wear proper equipment and be of proper age, proof of age required, birth
certificate (copies ok).
EQUIPMENT matching shirts numbered, shin
pads worn on outside of clothing, helmet all straps fastened, gloves (must be
padded hockey glove-NO GARDEN GLOVES), recommended but not required are a mouth
piece, elbow pads, and protective cup (worn inside)
STICKS Composite or wood shaft sticks
w/plastic blades or ABS composite blades only. Butt ends or taped that will not
fit through helmet cage. ***NO ALUMINUM SHAFTS***
GOALIE must wear a facemask w/skull plate
or helmet, goalie pads, chest protector, and protective cup. May use wooden
stick properly taped and deemed safe by officials.

- Weather
/ play will be at the league directors at that location discretion, NSHA
committee, or referee. Head referee before play resumes must write down
any protest (time, score, reason for protest ect.) and then resume play.
All protests will be brought to the board for review, if it is a valid
protest, the game will be replayed from the time of the protest.
- Off
sides Delay unless shot on goal. In penguin if ball crosses goal line the
delay is called. Double offsides automatic stoppage 2nd team
off sides is charge with the infraction.
- No
hand Passes comes out of the zone if the offense commits the infraction.
- No
fans behind the goalie’s net
- Goalie
cannot cover the ball behind the goal line unless part of the goalies body
is in the crease.
- Lobs
are okay unless they result in icing
- Players
must have helmets on at all times on court and on bench.
- Ball
out of play, goes into the zone of the team that last touched the ball,
offensive team hits ball out of play over goal line comes out of the zone
unless tipped.
- If
teams are same color the Away team will wear scrimmage vests
- Berating
or abusing the officials will not be tolerated, from coaches, players, or
fans. Or will abusive language be tolerated. Unruly fans will be asked to
leave, and if they do not the team will receive a bench minor.
- A
maximum of 5 coaches are allowed on the bench
- Crease
rule, player cannot be in the crease before ball. If ball is in crease,
the player may be in the crease. If a goal is scored and the player was in
the crease before the ball, the goal will be disallowed and the face off
will be out of the zone.
- Referees
must make sure the game sheet is complete and signed at the end of the
game, one copy will go to each team and the league will get the white copy.
- THESE
RULES WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED BY THE NSHA
- Every
team will play each other twice, at the end of the season points and NSHA
will determine who plays in what division for playoff spots i.e.… A, B, or
C or D-I, D-II, D-III. There will
be prizes for all participants in the league, besides a NSHA CUP for
champions in each level. The cup will have the Team-Coaches and Players
names, and will be passed on for year to year to the winners.
