Tuesday March 2, 2004:

American Legion defeated Doc's Place 6 to 3 in a tough fought battle for the 2004 Somers Point Penguin Division Championship Tuesday night. The American Legion team finished their season 18-0. Scoring for American Legion were Ryan Walker with 2 goals, Justin Ruggia with a hat trick and an assist, and Austin Klock had 1 goal and assisted with each of the five other goals.  American Legion's defense of Cory Santora, Dan Gindin, and Dalton Cosmo were incredible.  Joey Corsetti made some great saves in the net for American Legion.  Scoring for Doc's Place were Matt Spiers with 1 goal and 1 assist, Chris Hutton with 2 goals and Riley Milligan assisted with 2 goals.  The defensive team of Matt Broomall, Miranda Lamey, and Zachery Benz put up a great fight while Justin Tomlinson and Matt Harvey really tested the Legion's net minder.  Colin McGuigan was stellar between the pipes for Doc's Place.  See the pictures from the game here and here.

Friday February 27, 2004:

Doc's Place defeated Superior Plumbing & Heating 4 to 3 in a tough fought battle to advance to the championship round. Matt Harvey and Matt Spiers each lit the lamp once while Riley "Lil Mill" Milligan scored twice for Doc's.  Matt Broomall was stellar in the defensive zone for Doc's.  Guy Loggi, Matt Maiman, and Jon Beamer each had a goal for Superior Plumbing.

Tuesday February 24, 2004:

American Legion defeated Doc's Place 3 to 0 to advance to the Championship Game.  Justin Ruggia led the way with two goals while Austin Klock scored one for the Legion.  Joey Corsetti recorded the shut-out between the pipes.

Superior Plumbing & Heating defeated Peter John Salon 5 to 2.   Matt Maiman had one for Superior while Guy Loggi and Cole Gasperini each scored twice.  Kyle Bender had both goals for Peter John Salon.

Sunday February 22, 2004:

Superior Plumbing & Heating defeated Phillips Landscaping 8 to 1.  Jon Beamer and Matt Maiman each had one goal with Cole Gasperini having two and Guy Loggi netting a "hat trick" for Superior Plumbing.  Bailey Yauger had the lone goal for Phillips Landscaping.

Saturday February 21, 2004:

Doc's Place defeated Superior Plumbing & Heating 3 to 2 to continue marching thru the playoffs.  Riley Milligan, Matt Spiers, and Matt Harvey each had a goal for Doc's Place while Guy Loggi lit the lamp twice for Superior Plumbing & Heating.

Peter John Salon defeated Platt's 10-4.  Deion Smith, Nick Bryan, and Brandon Hartlage each had 1 goal and Kyle "The scoring machine" Bender had 7 goals for Peter John Salon.  Anthony Vitelli scored 1 goal and Matt Barella had a hat trick for Platt's.

 

Friday February 20, 2004:

American Legion defeated Peter John Salon 6 to 0.  Austin Klock, Justin Ruggia, and Ryan Walker each scored two goals for American Legion while Joe Corsetti earned the shut-out between the pipes.

Doc's Place defeated Platt's 5 to 1.  Matt Spiers, Matt Harvey, and Riley Milligan each had one goal while Chris Hutton had two for Doc's Place. Mike Derosiers scored the lone goal for Platt's.

Tuesday February 17, 2004:

The first play-off game was held with Peter John Salon defeating Phillips Landscaping 7 to 1.  Justin DiSciascio and Kyler Bender each had 1 goal with Brandon Hartlage scoring 2 and Deion Smith netting the hat trick for Peter John Salon.  Sean Phillips scored the sole goal for Phillips Landscaping.

Tuesday February 10, 2004:

In the last regular game of the season, Platt's defeated Superior Plumbing & Heating 4 to 2.  Guy Loggi and Matt Maiman each had a goal for Superior Plumbing.  Amy Erskine scored one while Matt Barrella had the "hat trick" for Platt's.

Sunday February 8, 2004:

Platt's defeated Phillips Landscaping 3 to 2.  Matt Eagan had one goal and Matt Barella lit the lamp twice for Platt's.  Sean Phillips and Eric Fournier each had a goal for Philips Landscaping.

Saturday February 7, 2004:

Peter John Salon defeated Doc's Place 5-0. Brandon Hartlage scored 1 goal and Kyle Bender has another multi-goal game with 4 scores for Peter John Salon.

American Legion defeated Platt's 7-3. Justin Ruggia scored 2 goals and Austin Klock had 5 The Legion.  Matt Eagan scored one while Matt Barella had 2 goals for Platt's.  This win sealed American Legions perfect record of 15-0-0 for the regular season. Congratulations to the American Legion Team.

 

Thursday February 5, 2004:

Superior Plumbing defeated Phillips Landscaping 6 to 3. Matt Maiman had 1 goal, Guy Loggi had two, and Derek Ruggia had the "hat trick" for Superior Plumbing. Sean Phillips lit the lamp once while Eric Fourmier had 2 goals for Phillips Landscaping.

Peter John Salon defeated Platt's 6-3.  Deion Smith had 1 goal while  Kyle "The Scoring Machine" Bender lit the lamp 5 times for Peter John Salon. Matt Barrella had 1 goal and Matt Eagan had the other two for Platt's.

 

Wednesday February 4, 2004:

Platt's defeated Phillips Landscaping 5-4.  Matt Barella and Mike Derosiers each had 2 goals and Matt Eagan knocked in one for Platt's.  Eric Fournier had all 4 goals for Phillips Landscaping.

Sunday February 1, 2004:

Super Bowl Sunday but there was hockey business in Somers Point to take care before the big game in Houston.

American Legion defeated Superior Plumbing & Heating 5-1. Justin Ruggia lit the lamp twice and Austin Klock had the hat trick for American Legion.  Matt Maiman scored the sole goal for Superior Plumbing & Heating on a tremendous break away.

Doc's Place and Phillips Landscaping settled for a 2 to 2 tie in a back and forth battle.  Riley "Lill' Mill" Milligan and Mighty Matt Spiers each had one goal for Doc's Place while Eric Fournier had both goals for Phillips Landscaping.

Saturday January 31, 2004:

American Legion defeated Peter John Salon 5 to 3.  Austin Klock scored all 5 for American Legion and Kyle Bender got all three for Peter John Salon.

In a battle of great goaltending, Superior Plumbing & Heating defeated Doc's Place 1-0.  Guy Loggi had the lone goal for Superior.  Colin McGuigan took the lost between the pipes for Doc's while Davey Parkonnen, Jr. earned the shut out for Superior.

Friday January 23, 2004:

American Legion defeated Doc's Place 7-3.  Austin Klock and Ryan Walker had two goals each with Justin Ruggia getting a hat trick.  Riley Milligan, Chris Hutton and Matt Spiers each knocked one in for Doc's place.

Peter John Salon defeated Phillips Landscaping 6 to 1.  Justin DiSciascio and Nick Bryan each had one goal and Kyle Bender lit the lamp four times  for Peter John Salon. Eric Fournier scored the lone goal for Phillips Landscaping.

Superior Plumbing & Heating and Platt's game was postponed due to the decreasing temperature.

Tuesday January 20, 2004:

On a cold and bitter night Doc's Place and Platt's met to do battle on the street hockey rinks of Somers Point.  During the first period Chris Hutton knocked one in to give Doc's an early lead.  But it was not to last as Matt Barella answered for Platt's by lighting the lamp later in the period.  The last two period were highlighted by strong defense on both sides of the rink and excellent goaltending efforts turned in by Colin McGuigan for Doc's and Matt Eagan for Platt's.  The game would end in a 1-1 tie as the players headed home for that richly deserved cup of hot chocolate.

American Legion defeated Phillips Landscaping 4-0.  Austin Klock and Matt Becker each had one goal and Justin Ruggia had two for the Legion.  Joey Corsetti and Austin Klock are credited with the shut-out.

Superior Plumbing & Heating defeated Peter John Salon 4 to 2.  Guy Loggi and Derek Ruggia each had one while Cole Gasperini grabbed two goals for Superior Plumbing & Heating.  Kyle Bender had both goals for Peter John Salon.

Phillips Landscaping defeated Peter John Salon 3-2.  Jacob Bolden had one goal and Eric Fournier scored twice for Phillips Landscaping. Nick Bryan and Kyle Bender each had one for Peter John Salon.

American Legion defeated Phillips Landscaping 8-0. Austin Klock, Justin Ruggia, Joey Corsetti, Cory Santora, Danny Gindin, and Matt Becker each had 1 goal while Ryan Walker had two for American Legion.  Joe Corsetti and Austin Klock split time in the net to earn the shut-out.

Platt's defeated Doc's Place 9 to 4.  Matt Barella had 3 goals and Matt Eagan lit the lamp 6 times for Platt's.  Riley Milligan and Chris Hutton each had 2 goals for Doc's Place.

Superior Plumbing & Heating defeated Peter John Salon 2 to 1.  Guy Loggi scored both goals for Superior Plumbing & Heating.  Kyle Bender had the 1 goal for Peter John Salon.

Tuesday December 30, 2003:

Doc's Place gets hot with two wins in a row by defeating Superior Plumbing 4 to 0.  Matt Harvey grabs a shut out between the pipes for Doc's while Chris Hutton puts two in the basket with Colin McGuigan and Riley Milligan each knocking one home.

American Legion defeated Peter John Salon 8 to 1.  Cory Santora and Ryan Walker each had one goal while Austin Klock lit the lamp 6 times for American Legion.  Kyle Bender scored the lone goal for Peter John Salon.

Platt's defeated Phillips Landscaping 7-0.  Colin Kaczmarski knocked in one for Platts while Matt Barella had two goals and Matt Eagan scored four times.

American Legion defeated Superior Plumbing & Heating 3 to 1.  Cory Santora, Dalton Cosmo, and Austin Klock each lit the lamp once for American Legion while Cole Gasperini had the lone goal for Superior Plumbing & Heating.

Doc's Place defeated Phillips Landscaping 3 to 1.  Colin McGuigan had 1 goal and Riley Milligan had 2 for Doc's Place.  Eric Fournier scored the single goal for Phillips Landscaping.

Peter John Salon defeated Platts 6-2.  Deion Smith knocked in one with Kyle Bender grabbing 5 goals for Peter John Salon.  Anthony Vitelli and Matt Eagan each had a goal for Platts.

American Legion defeated Platt's 8-1. Justin Ruggia and Cory Santora both had one goal while Ryan Walker and Austin Klock had 3 goals each for American Legion.   Matt Barella knocked in the lone goal for Platt's.

Peter John Salon and Doc's Place tied 3-3.  Matt Spiers scored 1 goal and Riley Milligan scored 2 for Doc's Place.  Kyle Bender had 1 goal and Nick Bryan scored 2 goals for Peter John Salon.

Superior Plumbing & Heatin defeated Phillips Landscaping 3-0.  Derek Ruggia, Guy Loggi, and Matt Maiman each scored for Superior Plumbing & Heating.

American Legion pounded Doc's Place 6 to 0.  Justin Ruggia had two goals while Austin Klock netted four for American Legion.  Joey Corsetti recorded his first shut-out of the season.

Superior Plumbing & Heating defeated Platt's 2-1.  Matt Maiman and Guy Loggi each had one goal for Superior Plumbing & Heating.  Matt Barella scored the solo goal for Platt's.

Peter John Salon defeated Phillips Landscaping 5-1.  Brandon Hartlage scored one goal and Kyle Bender scored four goals. Eric Fournier scored the one goal for Phillips Landscaping.

 

Friday December 19, 2003:

Peter John Salon and Doc's Place did battle in a hard fought make-up game. The scoring was back and forth until late in the third period Doc's was clinging to a tight three to two lead and was smelling victory.  But it was not to be. With a man in the penalty box Doc's played tough "D" but it was not enough to stop the speed of Kyle Bender who slammed one home to tie it.  With all that momentum Kyle scored again right off the face off to take the lead for his team.   With only 30 seconds left Doc's couldn't get the "biscuit in the basket" and Peter John came away with a 4-3 win.  Nick Byran had one early for Peter John while Chris Hutton, Riley Milligan and Matt Spiers were the scorers for Doc's.

American Legion defeated Platts 8 to 1.  Cory Santora and Dylan DiMeglio each had one goal a piece and Austin Klock lit the lamp six times for American Legion.  Matt Eagan had the one goal for Platts.

Superior Plumbing & Heating defeated Phillips Landscaping 3-0.  Matt Maiman, Guy Loggi and Derek Ruggia each had a goal for Superior Plumbing & Heating.

 

Tuesday December 16, 2003:

American Legion defeated Phillips Landscaping 9-1. Justin Ruggia scored 2 goals, Austin Klock had 3 and Ryan Walker knocked in 4 for American Legion.  Dan Gitsas scored 1 goal for Phillips Landscaping.

Platt's defeated Doc's Place 4-2. Amy Erskine scored once, Matt Barrella also had a goal and Matt Eagan had a pair for Platt's. Riley Milligan and Colin McGuigan both had 1 goal for Doc's place.

Peter John Salon and Superior Plumbing & Heating tied 3-3.  Matt Maiman scored 1 goal and Guy Loggi had 2 goals for Superior Plumbing & Heating.  Kyle Bender, Nick Bryan, and Jake Shields each had one for Peter John Salon.
